About Armenian Cultural Association of British Columbia
The Armenian Cultural Association of British Columbia is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Armenian heritage and culture throughout Vancouver, BC and the broader region. Since its establishment in 1968, the ACA has evolved into a comprehensive cultural institution offering diverse programming and activities designed to celebrate Armenian traditions while fostering community engagement. The organization operates an Armenian school, providing educational opportunities for members to connect with their linguistic and cultural roots. Beyond academics, the ACA organizes competitive soccer, volleyball, and basketball leagues that bring together community members of all ages. The Association hosts an extensive calendar of cultural events including lectures featuring Armenian poets, painters, and musicians; concerts and dinner-dances; theatrical productions and dance performances; and multicultural festivals that showcase Armenian contributions to the broader Canadian cultural landscape. The ACA also coordinates annual commemorations of Armenian Independence Day and observes the remembrance of the Armenian Genocide on April 24. Additionally, the organization demonstrates its commitment to educational excellence by awarding competitive scholarships to students of Armenian descent attending accredited post-secondary institutions throughout British Columbia. Operating with a strictly non-political and non-denominational approach, the ACA maintains its focus on serving the entire Armenian community while providing a platform for celebrating Armenian heritage. From intimate family celebrations marking Mother's Day, Father's Day, and anniversaries to large-scale community gatherings, the Armenian Cultural Association of British Columbia continues its mission of connecting people to their cultural identity and fostering wider appreciation of Armenian history, traditions, and values.
